Bihar Election: Women candidates in NDA and Grand Alliance posing a strong competition to veterans

Women earning a name in all fields are standing in front of veterans in politics too. In the current assembly elections, if the NDA or the Grand Alliance, both of whom have given tickets, there are only five seats from which women are face to face in both the alliances. In all other seats, women are competing against men. There are many women among them, who have entered the political arena for the first time.

The NDA has fielded 37 women and the Grand Alliance has fielded 23. The five seats where women from both the coalitions are face to face include Katoria, Masaudhi, Barachatti, Parihar, and Kodha. Sweetie Seema Hembram of RJD and Nikki Hembram from BJP in Katoria, Rekha Devi of RJD and Nutan Paswan of JDU in Masaudhi, Samata Manjhi of RJD and Jyoti Devi from Ham in Barachatti, Congress’s Poonam Paswan and BJP’s Kavita Paswan at Kodha, and Gayatri Devi of BJP in front of Ritu Jaiswal of RJD in Parihar. In the remaining seats, women strongly compete against men. 

BJP’s Shreyasi Singh faces former minister and former MLA from Jamui

International shooter and a debutant politician Shreyasi Singh is challenging former state minister Vijay Prakash and former MLA Ajay Pratap in Jamui. Sushmalata Kushwaha, who is contesting for the first time from Jagdishpur on a JDU ticket, is pitted against Ravish Prakash Tarapur, the former minister and the youngest RJD nominee, Mewalal Chaudhary. Kiran Devi, former legislator Vijendra Yadav, came to the electoral fray for the first time in place of her husband in Sandesh, Rahul Tiwari of RJD in Munni Devi Shahpur of BJP and Sangeeta Devi of RJD in Mohania and former minister from Nokha. Anita Devi of RJD is competing with Nagendra Chandravanshi of JDU. 

BJP’s Asha Sinha will face Ritlal Yadav of RJD

Shashi Yadav of Male from Digha is contesting against Sanjeev Chaurasia of BJP and JD (U) MLA Poonam Devi Yadav of Chhatrapati Yadav of Congress in Khagaria. In Danapur, Ritlal Yadav of RJD in front of BJP’s Asha Sinha and Rashmi Verma of BJP in Narkatiaganj are Vinay Verma of Congress.

In Benipatti, sitting Congress MLA Bhavana Jha is pitted against PHED minister BJP’s Vinod Narayan Jha. Former minister from Bajpatti, Dr. Ranju Geeta of JDU is in front of Mukesh Kumar Yadav of RJD, Meena Kamat RJD of JDU from Baburabi, Santosh Sardar of JDU’s Veena Bharti RJD in Triveniganj. For the first time, JDU candidate Shagufta Azim of Araria is contesting in the electoral arena, Abidurrahrahman of Congress, Israel’s Hussain of BJP’s Sweety Singh Congress in Kishanganj and Saba Jafar of JDU in Amour are former Congress candidate Abdul Jalil Mastan. 

Vikas Chandra Mandal of CPI in front of JDU’s Bharti from Rupauli, Dilip Kumar Yadav of RJD in front of Lacey Singh from Dhamdaha, his wife Nisha Singh on the BJP ticket for the first time after the death of Minister Vinod Singh and the Congress. K Toukir is challenging Alam. Former MP from Saharsa and Lovely Anand of RJD is in front of BJP’s Alok Ranjan Jha. For the first time, Ashman Parveen, daughter of former minister Ilyas Hussain, entered the electoral fray, competing with RJD’s Mukesh Kumar Roshan, reports LiveHindustan.
