The newly formed government of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) formed under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Bihar seems to be in a rigorous action mode. The new government has indicated its intention by bringing the details of the action taken in the last 11 months into the public domain. According to the details, 85 policemen have been dismissed this year. Whereas, 644 is against stern Action. This action has been taken in cases of sand, licorice, and land misappropriation.
Bihar Police Headquarters has made public the details of the action taken in the last 11 months. There are six IPS officers and 32 Bihar Police Service Officers (BPS Officers) forming the list. Most of the policemen have been charged in cases of liquor ban law, illegal mining, transportation, and land-related action.
Since January, 85 policemen have been dismissed from service. At the same time, harsh punishment has been given to 55 police officers and four have been given minor punishments. Action is proposed against dozens of policemen. Taking the action against the irresponsibility of the officers seriously, 23 is set to be dismissed from service. Not only this, but the pension of five retired police officers has also been cut.
The number of officers against whom the action has been taken or is being taken is being stated as 38. These include two officers of the Indian Police Service. Departmental action has also been taken against the four functionaries.
