Virat Kohli steps down as the Indian test team captain

Virat Kohli has distanced himself and quit from the Test captaincy post after the defeat in the Test series in South Africa. Kohli has shared this information by tweeting from his official handle. Kohli wrote that it was great to captain India’s Test team for 7 years.

He thanked the BCCI and his teammates for supporting him throughout his journey as Indian captain. Notably, Virat Kohli was replaced as India’s full-time captain by Rohit Sharma in December last year. He had stepped down from T20I captaincy at the end of India’s ICC T20 World Cup campaign in November.

After the T20 World Cup, Kohli had also left the captaincy of the T20 team. At the same time, before the Test series against South Africa, the BCCI removed Kohli from the post of the captaincy of the ODI team.
