Bihar: In-laws burn the bride alive while her being tied to a chair

On Monday evening, in-laws in Vabhantoli village of Goraul police station of Vaishali district in Bihar tied the married woman to a chair and burnt her alive. She died on the spot. The deceased was the wife of 30-year-old Khushboo Devi Sonu Kumar of the village. She married Sonu about three years after the first husband’s death. The in-laws often pressurized him to ask for money from the bride. Police reached at the information of the incident and took the corpse and sent it to Sadar Hospital in Hajipur for post mortem.

Kalwa Devi, a resident of Dharmpur of Desari in Vaishali district, the mother of the deceased, has accused her in-laws of burning her to death for Rs. In addition to her husband, two more FIRs on the family have been lodged in the Gorul police station for murder. Station Head Anil Kumar said that the burnt corpse of the woman was found in the room. An FIR has been lodged on the application of the deceased’s mother. Further action is being taken. At present, the accused are absconding.

Regarding the incident, Kalwa Devi told the police that the in-laws tied the bride to the chair and poured kerosene, and burned her alive. Due to this, she died on the spot. She told the police that her daughter’s in-laws always used to pressurize my daughter to fetch money from her maternal uncle. A few months ago, she gave Rs 30,000 to his son-in-law. It is also alleged that her husband, both her brothers-in-law and father-in-law used to torture her a lot while demanding money. On Monday, there was a dispute in the house about the same. She was burnt alive in the evening.

She said that after the death of the first husband of her daughter Khushboo Devi, Khushboo remarried Sonu Kumar of Rusulpur Inayat around three years ago. At that time, bikes, jewelry, utensils, and cash were also given as a gift. Khushboo also has two children. Station Head Anil Kumar said that sub-inspector Sanjay Kumar Singh has been sent to investigate the incident.
