As soon as the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General i.e. the CAG comes, the threat of scam has been heard once again in Bihar. This time it is not a uniform or recruitment scam, but the information received under the Right to Information Act has shown that there is a bodyguard scam in the state. What has been revealed from the CAG report through RTI, is that the state government has been deprived of more than 100 crores of revenue due to bodyguard scams due to connivance with the system.
RTI activist Shivprakash Rai had sought information under the Right to Information Act in the matter of providing bodyguards to a large number of people. In this information sought from the CAG, financial irregularities have been revealed in more than a dozen districts of the state. The CAG has revealed that the government spent the maximum amount of Rs 1.24 crore on bodyguards in the Arwal district. At the same time, disturbances of more than 1 crore were done in Araria. Apart from this, 1 crore was spent in Samastipur, 87 lakh in Patna, 73 lakh in Gaya, and 44 lakh rupees in Buxar, as well as money spent on bodyguards of private people in many other districts. Due to this, the government lost billions of rupees.
Citing the rules, the RTI activist said that there is a clear order of the High Court that the government can spend money on bodyguards only on people who are associated with social concerns or there is some danger on their lives. But it has come out in the report that bodyguards were also provided to many criminal and mafia types. The amount was not recovered in return. The RTI activist said that if the money is not recovered, he will go to court against the government.
