India ranks third in the world in terms of Covid-19 vaccination: Ministry of Health

The Union Health Ministry said on Thursday that India ranks third worldwide after the US and England in terms of Covid-19 vaccination. The ministry said that as of 8 am on Thursday, more than 94 lakh health workers and Corona warriors have been vaccinated by Covid-19 across the country.

He said that the rate of Covid-19 infection has also decreased continuously in the last seven days. On February 1, it was 1.89 percent, which fell to 1.69 percent on Thursday. According to the report received from the provinces, a total of 94,22,228 doses of the vaccine have been injected to the beneficiaries in 1,99,305 vaccination sessions till 8 am on February 18.

These include 61,96,641 health workers (first dose), 3,69,167 health workers (second dose) and 28,56,420 corona warriors (first dose). Since the completion of 28 days of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign which started in the country on January 16, the second dose of vaccine has started injecting those who took the first dose at least 28 days before February 13.

The Corona Warriors vaccination began on February 2 and 4,22,998 doses of the vaccine were injected over 7,932 sessions on the 33rd day of vaccination (February 18). Of these, 3,30,208 people were given the first dose while 92,790 people were given the second dose of the vaccine.

The ministry said that 58.20 percent of those taking the second dose of vaccine are from seven states. 14.74 percent (54,397 doses) are injected in Karnataka alone. The ministry said that till Thursday around 1.06 crore (1,06,56,845) people have become infection-free.
