The ruling JDU, which has shown the exit of close to five dozen rebel leaders so far, has again taken action against one of its top leaders. State JDU President Basistha Narayan Singh has suspended Bihar Legislative Council member Dinesh Prasad Singh from the party with immediate effect. Following the instructions of the state president, the state general secretary Dr. Naveen Kumar Arya has issued an order for his suspension. He has also been asked for clarification.
In a letter issued to the media, the state general secretary said that Komal Singh, daughter of Dinesh Prasad Singh, is an authorized candidate of LJP from Gayaghat assembly constituency in Muzaffarpur district, while JDU candidate Maheshwar Prasad Singh of NDA alliance is in the fray. The party has received information that Dinesh Singh is putting pressure on the people of this constituency and JDU officials and workers to work in favor of LJP workers. They are also being threatened through unwanted elements at the house and mobile of party officials. Dr. Arya said that with immediate effect on the direction of the state president, Dinesh Prasad Singh has been asked to suspend his membership from JDU and provide his written version within 10 days.
Significantly, Dinesh Prasad Singh’s wife Veena Devi is an MP from Vaishali Lok Sabha constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he defeated RJD candidate Raghuvansh Prasad Singh as an NDA candidate. On the other hand, four-time MLA Maheshwar Prasad Yadav is on the JDU ticket to reach the assembly for the fifth time. In 2015, Maheshwar Prasad Yadav, on an RJD ticket, defeated Veena Devi, who landed on a BJP ticket. In this election, Maheshwar Prasad Yadav has left the RJD and joined the JDU. RJD has fielded Niranjan Rai against him, reports LiveHindustan.
